Strategy Raises $2.01 Billion From MSTR Stock Sales and Establishes New USD Cash Account

Strategy raised $2.01 billion net last week through the sale of its MSTR stock, according to an 8-K filing submitted on Monday. The company sold 18,261,118 shares for an average of approximately $109.88 each, marking a significant increase from the previous week's total.

Of the total proceeds, $136.4 million was allocated to buying back STRC preferred stock, $300 million was directed into the company's dollar reserve, and the remaining $1.57 billion was placed into a newly created account named USD Cash.

According to the filing, the USD Cash account is a separately designated pool of dollar liquidity held for general Bitcoin treasury operations. Its broad stated purposes include acquiring Bitcoin, paying preferred dividends and interest, repurchasing MSTR or preferred stock, repaying or redeeming convertible notes, and replenishing the dollar reserve. The USD Cash pool stood at $1.59 billion as of August 23.

This new pool operates independently from Strategy's existing USD Reserve, a $5.1 billion stash specifically designated to cover preferred dividends and interest on debt. Unlike the USD Reserve, USD Cash carries no such restriction and is intended to provide management with greater flexibility to respond to market conditions, including dislocations in Bitcoin or company securities markets.

Strategy's total Bitcoin holdings remained unchanged at 840,447 BTC, acquired for $63.36 billion at an average price of $75,385. The company has not purchased Bitcoin since June and has gone two consecutive weeks without selling any. With Bitcoin trading around $78,400, the company's stack is valued at approximately $65.9 billion.

The recent STRC buyback encompassed 1,431,212 shares, leaving $516.6 million remaining under the $1 billion digital credit securities repurchase program announced on June 29. A separate $1 billion authorization covering MSTR stock remains untouched.
