Strategy deployed $139.3 million between September 8 and 13 to repurchase 1,420,467 units of STRC preferred stock, drawing exclusively from its USD Cash reserves. The capital reallocation marks a shift in the company's investment priorities as it pauses bitcoin acquisitions.
The company's bitcoin treasury remained unchanged for a second consecutive week at 845,050 BTC, valued at approximately $65.7 billion based on prevailing market prices. Strategy's most recent bitcoin purchase occurred in late August, adding 4,603 BTC at a cost of $369.7 million, marking its first acquisition since June.
USD Cash reserves declined to $1.3 billion by September 14 from $1.44 billion the previous week, reflecting the preferred stock repurchase. Strategy maintains a separate $5.1 billion USD Reserve account designated for preferred stock dividend distributions and interest obligations. The company did not execute buybacks of STRF, STRD, or STRK preferred securities during the period, and its authorized $1 billion common stock repurchase program remained unused.
Strategy's bitcoin holdings represent over 4% of bitcoin's fixed 21 million coin maximum supply. The company ranks first among publicly traded corporations with bitcoin on their balance sheets, followed by Twenty One with 43,514 BTC, Metaplanet with 43,000 BTC, MARA with 35,577 BTC, and Bitcoin Standard Treasury Company with 30,021 BTC.
The company's stock declined 4.7% during the week, settling at $130.97 by Friday's close. Bitcoin's price fell 3.9% over the same period.
Index Classification Decision Pending
Strategy awaits an MSCI determination on a proposed framework that would exclude non-operating companies from global equity index benchmarks. The public consultation period closes September 30, with a final ruling expected October 16. Should the classification change proceed, it could trigger reallocation of billions in passive index fund capital currently linked to Strategy's benchmark representation.
CEO Michael Saylor has discontinued publishing his customary weekly Sunday Bitcoin position updates on social media, which historically preceded new acquisition announcements.
