Strive announced Monday that it purchased 1,800 bitcoins between August 24 and August 28 at an average price of $79,431 per coin, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. The $143 million acquisition moved the Nasdaq-listed company into the fifth position among publicly traded bitcoin treasuries.
The Dallas-based company now holds 23,156 bitcoins valued at $1.8 billion at current prices. Strive's stock (NASDAQ: ASST) traded 9% higher following the announcement, with year-to-date gains of approximately 40%.
Strive's bitcoin yield—a metric comparing growth in bitcoin holdings relative to share count—reached 40.8% as of August 28, up from less than 37% in early June. The company ranks behind Strategy, Twenty One, Metaplanet, and MARA in total bitcoin holdings.
Founded in 2025 by former Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy after raising $750 million for bitcoin purchases, Strive completed its acquisition of Semler Scientific in January 2026 in an all-stock transaction, marking the first time a publicly traded bitcoin treasury company acquired another such company.
The company maintains a debt-free balance sheet with no bonds, credit lines, or leveraged positions. CEO Matt Cole has emphasized that Strive operates with zero margin requirements and no encumbered bitcoin.
Strive's purchase follows Strategy's resumption of bitcoin buying last week. Strategy, the largest corporate bitcoin holder, announced it acquired 4,603 bitcoins for $369.7 million between August 24 and August 30 after a 10-week pause.
