Tokenized Stock Trading Surges Outside US Market Hours Across Solana and BNB Chain

Trading activity in tokenized stocks on major blockchains is increasingly concentrated outside regular US market hours, indicating that continuous trading access may become a key advantage of moving equities onchain.

According to data from Blockworks, more than 70% of tokenized stock trading volume on BNB Chain takes place outside the traditional 9:30 am to 4 pm Eastern trading session. Solana records 63% of its tokenized stock trading outside regular hours, while Base shows nearly 60%. Jupiter, a Solana-based trading platform, reported a 50% month-over-month increase in tokenized asset trading volume.

The pattern suggests that investors are using tokenized stocks to trade when traditional US exchanges are closed, rather than simply replicating activity during standard market hours.

Tokenized stock values have grown 15% over the past 30 days, reaching nearly $3.3 billion in total value, according to RWA.xyz data. Major issuers including Ondo Global Markets, xStocks and bStocks contribute significantly to this market, with their tokens traded across multiple blockchains.

SEC Opens Door to Tokenized Equities

The expansion in round-the-clock trading coincides with US regulators moving toward supporting tokenized stocks in traditional markets. Last month, the Securities and Exchange Commission introduced an "innovation exemption" allowing qualifying venues to trade tokenized US-listed stocks on public blockchains.

Participating venues must publish transaction data in US dollars, including trade prices, sizes, timestamps and daily trading volumes. They are also required to disclose liquidity pool addresses and balances, according to SEC Commissioner Mark Uyeda.

Unlike existing tokenized stock products such as xStocks and Ondo Global Markets, which are generally restricted from US investors, the SEC exemption enables qualifying venues to offer tokenized US equities domestically. Venues must preserve shareholder rights and meet applicable trading and disclosure requirements.
