Tools for Humanity has launched World Money, a self-custodial wallet that integrates stablecoin payments with fiat onboarding powered by Stripe infrastructure. The app enables verified World ID users to conduct zero-fee stablecoin transfers while providing bank transfer capabilities through conventional financial rails.
The launch signals a strategic expansion for World, which initially focused on identity verification through World ID. By combining identity authentication with wallet and payment functionality, the platform moves toward becoming a broader financial application rather than remaining a specialized identity network.
Design and Custody Model
World Money maintains self-custodial architecture, meaning users retain direct control of their wallets rather than holding balances in a centralized account. This design preserves ties to World's blockchain infrastructure while offering a more conventional fintech user experience.
Stablecoins form the core of the payment layer, allowing users to transfer dollar-like assets globally without exposure to cryptocurrency volatility. Stripe handles the integration between traditional banking systems and the stablecoin layer, managing fiat conversion in both directions.
Regional Availability and Restrictions
Availability varies by geography. Some financial, yield, and card-related features remain restricted in parts of the United States and other jurisdictions based on local regulatory requirements. The product does not launch identically across all regions on day one.
