Travala's AVA Smart Program, a crypto loyalty initiative, has reached more than 170,000 members as of August, representing a 110% year-on-year increase. Approximately 12.1 million AVA tokens are currently locked across the program and AVA+ Rewards, equating to around 16% of the token's circulating supply.
The AVA Foundation and Travala announced new standard lock levels for the program, effective no earlier than November 1, 2026. Starting then, new Smart memberships will require double the current AVA lock for each tier. Existing members retain their current requirements while active and may voluntarily upgrade to the new levels to increase AVA eligible for rewards.
AVA Smart Bonus amounts remain at 15% per year for Steel through Platinum tiers and 20% for Diamond, subject to program rules. If existing members migrate to the new levels, locked AVA would reach approximately 20 million tokens, or roughly 27% of circulating supply.
The program supports Travala's travel platform, which reported 1.87 million monthly active users and over $113 million in gross revenue during 2025. The platform processes more than 17,000 room nights, flights, car rentals, and activities bookings monthly.
Steve Hipwell, AVA Foundation Lead Contributor, stated that having 16% of AVA's circulating supply locked in a travel loyalty program demonstrates real-world utility. The new lock levels are designed to reward early members while establishing a clear community goal of 30% of circulating supply locked.
The announcement follows the launch of the AVA Permanent Strategic Reserve, under which Travala matches the AVA Foundation's monthly open-market buybacks. In September, combined buybacks repurchased 739,762 AVA, with the Foundation's program having repurchased more than 4.8 million AVA to date. Travala's matched tokens are held in a multisig reserve with a stated commitment never to sell or transfer them.
