TRON Founder Justin Sun Discusses Bitcoin's Evolution and Stablecoin Role at Bitcoin Asia 2026

TRON founder Justin Sun shared perspectives on Bitcoin's market evolution and the role of stablecoins in global finance during two fireside discussions at Bitcoin Asia 2026, held in Hong Kong on August 27, 2026.

During a discussion titled "The Globalization of Bitcoin Capital" on the Nakamoto Stage with Bonnie Blockchain founder Bonnie Chang, Sun addressed Bitcoin's transition from experimental technology to established monetary asset. He noted that Bitcoin's traditional four-year market cycle may become less pronounced as institutional flows, derivatives, global liquidity and macroeconomic conditions increasingly shape market dynamics.

Sun emphasized TRON's prominence in stablecoin infrastructure, stating that the network hosts more than $94 billion in USD Tether (USDT), supported by real-world usage and ecosystem growth. He described Bitcoin and stablecoins as complementary assets, with Bitcoin functioning as a store of value while stablecoins facilitate payments and settlement. Sun cited sustained stablecoin activity on TRON as evidence that demand for digital dollars remains resilient independent of broader cryptocurrency market conditions.

Sun also addressed longer-term technological risks and opportunities for blockchain networks. He highlighted TRON's development of post-quantum signature technology on the Nile testnet, noting the industry should prepare for security considerations as quantum computing advances. Regarding artificial intelligence, Sun suggested autonomous AI agents could eventually participate in the digital economy, potentially creating demand for systems enabling AI agents to hold assets, execute payments and interact with financial applications. He indicated blockchain's transparent and verifiable infrastructure may become increasingly relevant as AI systems gain greater economic autonomy.

Later that day, Sun participated in a second discussion with Sean Hagan of BMTV at The Deep, Bitcoin Asia's VIP stage, focusing on his evolving perspectives on Bitcoin and opportunities in digital assets.
