President Donald Trump declared on Truth Social that anyone using the term "artificial intelligence" instead of "super intelligence" is "THE ENEMY," though he provided no further explanation for the position.
A September 29 executive order instructed federal agencies to adopt the term "super intelligence," or SI. The order carries no penalties and does not apply to private companies.
Inconsistency at the White House
Despite Trump's declaration, the White House science office website continues to refer to artificial intelligence. Additionally, Truth Social's own search tool is labeled "Truth Search AI."
Traditionally, "super intelligence" refers to a hypothetical system with intelligence surpassing human capability—a distinction that differs from the conventional meaning of artificial intelligence.
Corporate Adoption
Elon Musk announced on X on October 4 that SpaceXAI, the SpaceX unit behind the Grok chatbot, would be renamed to SpaceXSI. Musk stated "It's better" without providing a timeline for the change. SpaceX had absorbed xAI and adopted the SpaceXAI name in July.
Major AI companies including OpenAI and Anthropic have not adopted the new terminology.
Domain Market Activity
The abbreviation SI corresponds to .si, the web domain suffix for Slovenia, the birthplace of first lady Melania Trump. Slovenia's registry recorded 46,066 new .si domain registrations in September.
Crypto investor Adam Cochran claimed on X that Trump insiders profited from early .si domain purchases. Cybersecurity firm Netcraft tracked .si registrations at registrar Dynadot between Trump's September 19 Truth Social poll about the terminology change and his subsequent United Nations speech, finding that just over half were listed for resale.
No public records link the domain buyers to Trump or his family members.
