The team behind Donald Trump's TRUMP memecoin collected 3.39 million USDC over a 10-hour period by adding and removing liquidity on the Solana network, according to data from Lookonchain.
Rather than executing a direct sale on an exchange order book, the team acquired the funds through a liquidity mechanism. The approach involved seeding Solana liquidity pools with TRUMP-only positions at target prices and allowing market buyers to trigger automatic swaps into USDC as the token's price climbed. Developers previously utilized a similar technique in April, withdrawing 4.6 million USDC from a liquidity pool ahead of a scheduled token unlock.
Launched on Solana on January 17, 2025, as the first memecoin issued by a sitting U.S. president, TRUMP recently traded at $2.46 with a market capitalization of $629.5 million and a 24-hour trading volume of $864.3 million. Additional sales occurred throughout the week from various wallets. On August 23, the Official Trump team transferred roughly 646,000 TRUMP tokens worth about $15.5 million to OKX, followed by another transfer of 2.62 million tokens valued at $6.2 million.
The token's price trajectory has experienced significant volatility since its debut, during which it initially spiked above $73 within two days of launch before declining. Core developers previously moved 48.25 million tokens worth approximately $172.4 million across three batches over a five-month period. Meanwhile, Bill Zanker's firm, Fight Fight Fight LLC, has pursued a fundraising effort ranging from $200 million to $1 billion to establish a digital asset treasury company focused on purchasing TRUMP on the open market, though that plan remains unconfirmed.
