Trust Wallet has integrated Tronify, an energy rental service designed to lower the cost of TRON transactions. The non-custodial wallet now automatically offers the rental option when users interact with TRON-based decentralized applications or send TRC-20 tokens like USDT, with the process completing in roughly 3-5 seconds.
The integration can deliver up to 40% savings on transaction costs compared to standard network fees, according to Trust Wallet. Tronify's broader service claims users can save between 70% and 97% depending on network conditions.
How TRON's Resource Model Works
Unlike Ethereum's gas fee system, TRON uses a resource model based on two currencies: Energy and Bandwidth. Energy powers smart contract interactions, while Bandwidth covers basic data transmission. Users obtain these resources by staking TRX, the network's native token.
If users lack sufficient staked TRX to cover a transaction's resource requirements, the network burns TRX directly as payment. This can become expensive during periods of high network activity when resource costs rise.
Tronify's Rental Approach
Tronify's rental model allows users to rent Energy from its pool on a per-transaction basis rather than staking their own TRX or risking direct burns. The service delegates resources to a wallet address almost instantly, and users pay only for what they use.
The Trust Wallet implementation checks whether renting Energy would be cheaper than paying standard fees. If so, the rental option appears automatically. Users see costs upfront before confirming and can pay using either TRX or USDT.
Tronify operates as a non-custodial service and never takes control of user funds. It simply delegates Energy and Bandwidth for the duration of the transaction.
Tronify's Track Record
Tronify had already delegated over 1.8 billion energy units and powered approximately 38,000 wallets before the Trust Wallet integration. The service is available for any non-custodial TRON wallet to integrate.
Implications for TRON Ecosystem
Trust Wallet previously introduced TRC-related staking options and resource visibility features in December 2024. The Tronify integration represents a continuation of the wallet's expanded TRON support.
The shift from burning TRX to renting Energy could affect TRON's fee-burning mechanism, which acts as a deflationary force on TRX supply. If more users adopt the rental model, the burn rate may decrease.
