Uniswap Labs has acquired PONS, the native token of a launchpad platform operating on Robinhood Chain. The companies described the purchase as a move toward long-term alignment but did not disclose the transaction size, price, or structure.
Following the announcement, PONS climbed 17.5% and reached an all-time high of $0.5242, trading at $0.5013 with a market capitalization of $357.1 million. The acquisition details remain sparse, leaving open questions about whether the tokens were purchased on the open market or allocated directly.
Pons Platform and Uniswap Integration
Pons launched on July 13 and established direct integration with Uniswap liquidity pools through updated contracts deployed on August 3. Under this model, new tokens trade on Pons via a bonding curve before graduating to Uniswap, where their liquidity transfers.
Robinhood Chain accounts for a significant portion of Uniswap trading volume, representing $901.5 million, or 56.3%, of the protocol's $1.6 billion in total cross-chain volume.
Fee Performance and Market Position
Pons has emerged as a leading launchpad by fees, generating $5.95 million in a single day and outpacing Solana's pump.fun in daily fees every day since August 29. Over the past week, Pons collected $28.83 million in fees, reaching $40.84 million for the month.
The platform allocates approximately 80% of fees to token buybacks and reported burning 29.34% of total token supply. With circulating supply at 712.1 million PONS against a 1 billion token cap, the platform operates a structured supply management system.
Competitive Landscape
Uniswap operates its own launchpad, Pools.trade, launched August 5 on Robinhood Chain. While Pools.trade charges no token launch fee and takes 0.25% on trades, it generated significantly lower daily fees—$38,553 by August 31 compared to Pons' $4.89 million on the same date.
Robinhood Chain, which launched its mainnet on July 1 as an Ethereum layer two using Arbitrum technology, processed $1.35 billion in trading volume over the most recent 24-hour period with $818.6 million in total value locked.
