Uniswap reached a new milestone by processing more than 7 million swaps in one day, according to a statement from Uniswap founder Hayden Adams. This rate translates to approximately 82 swaps per second across the protocol's supported chains.
The record activity follows a significant expansion of Uniswap's fee infrastructure. As of July, protocol fees became active across all v2 and v3 pools on 11 chains. In late July, governance added Robinhood Chain for v2 and v3 pools, and activated fee controllers on seven additional chains for v4, with five other chains deferred to a later proposal.
By mid-August, v4 fees had been activated across approximately 229,000 pools, with 10 of 12 authorized chains generating protocol fees. However, available public data does not connect the September 1 swap count with fee status, volume metrics, or protocol fee generation during that period.
Measuring Protocol Revenue
Quantifying the revenue impact of record swap activity remains difficult due to data limitations. According to Blockworks reporting from August 12, liquidity providers earned approximately $44 million in fees over 30 days, while the protocol accrued roughly $4 million. Of the protocol total, v2 and v3 generated $3.64 million, while v4 contributed about $300,000 during its initial two weeks.
Since December, protocol fees have funded approximately 7.5 million UNI in burns. In July, Uniswap Labs reported that monthly protocol fees increased from about $3.1 million in February to $5.1 million in June.
The record swap volume may expand Uniswap's overall fee base, but the current data does not establish whether most of the September 1 activity occurred in fee-enabled pools or quantify its contribution to protocol revenue.
