Bitcoin settled near the $78,000 mark following a volatile period influenced by macroeconomic factors and geopolitical developments. After previously surging past $81,000 earlier in the month, BTC faced downward pressure following a hawkish speech by Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh at Jackson Hole on Friday, which caused the asset to dip below $77,000.
Although bulls attempted recoveries, including a brief climb to $79,000, new strikes involving the US and Iran on Monday morning prompted another dip below $77,000. BTC subsequently rebounded to the middle of its current range, maintaining a market capitalization of $1.560 trillion and a dominance of just under 58%.
Meanwhile, Uniswap's native token (UNI) emerged as a standout performer, jumping 10% on the day and over 32% weekly to reach a multi-month peak near $6.00 before retracing to $5.65. Other digital assets experienced mixed movements, with RAIN and NEAR rising about 4% and HYPE gaining over 2%.
Conversely, several major cryptocurrencies struggled to recover recent losses. Ethereum (ETH) remained pressured below $2,450, while Solana (SOL) slipped toward $100 after a 1% decline, and TRX fell nearly 2% to $0.33. XRP traded well below $1.40, and BNB remained beneath $690, with additional declines noted for MNT and SKY.
In the wider altcoin sector, ARB and CRV re-entered the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization following daily gains of 24% and 15%, respectively. The total cryptocurrency market capitalization held just above $2.7 trillion.
