Uniswap Trading Volume Surges $325M as Tokenized Stock Market Expands

Uniswap trading volume for tokenized stocks increased by $325.2 million during the latest week, according to Token Terminal data. Version 4 contributed $170 million while version 3 added $155.2 million, with both protocol versions now central to decentralized equity trading activity.

Tokenized stocks have grown significantly as a share of overall decentralized exchange volume. Their portion of DEX spot activity has climbed above 4% this year, compared to approximately 0.1% one year earlier. Quarter-to-date volume during the third quarter reached $7.8 billion across decentralized exchanges.

Uniswap v4 and PancakeSwap v3 generated approximately $5.2 billion combined, representing about two-thirds of the quarter-to-date tokenized stock DEX volume. Daily turnover for tokenized stocks exceeded $565 million at its late-June peak.

Protocol Versions Support Different Trading Models

The $325.2 million weekly increase reflects added volume across both v3 and v4, rather than total weekly turnover for tokenized stocks. While v4 supplied a slightly larger share of the weekly addition, v3 produced nearly half, indicating that traders continue to use established pool infrastructure alongside newer designs.

Uniswap v4 introduced customizable hooks around pool actions, allowing developers to alter fees, trading logic, or access conditions without replacing the core exchange system. The protocol also introduced permissioned pools in July for regulated onchain assets, which check issuer-managed allowlists during swaps and verify access before liquidity positions are created. Standard v4 pools continue operating without permission, allowing one protocol to support both open crypto markets and restricted asset pools.

Robinhood Chain Drives Recent Growth

Robinhood Chain, which opened July 1 using Arbitrum technology, has emerged as a major driver of tokenized stock activity. Uniswap deployed v2, v3, v4, and UniswapX on the chain, with Uniswap becoming the network's primary public market maker.

A 90-day reading showed $638.5 million in tokenized equity turnover on Robinhood Chain. Cumulative Uniswap trading volume for stock tokens crossed $1 billion in August. Market data attributes 73% of the chain's tokenized stock liquidity to v4.

Eligible users can trade tokens tracking major companies and exchange-traded funds. Robinhood reports its wallet offers stock tokens in more than 120 countries, subject to local availability. The chain supports round-the-clock global decentralized trades, separating trading availability from conventional exchange sessions.

Tokenized stocks on Robinhood Chain differ from ordinary shares in important legal respects. Robinhood describes its stock tokens as debt securities that track referenced assets economically. Holders receive no legal or beneficial ownership of the underlying shares and receive no voting rights tied to those companies.
