South Korea's largest cryptocurrency exchange, Upbit, announced the listing of four new altcoins, setting trading to begin at 1 p.m. Korea Standard Time (KST). The announcement prompted immediate upward price movements and surges in trading volume for all four tokens: Biconomy (BICO), Bubblemaps (BMT), Nillion (NIL), and ETHGas (GWEI).
ETHGas led the market reaction following the notice, rising 11.75% against the dollar on Kraken. Bubblemaps gained 7.48% and Biconomy climbed 7.35% on their respective Binance Tether pairs, while Nillion recorded the smallest gain among the group, increasing by 5.11% at press time.
Trading activity also expanded significantly alongside the price gains. According to CoinGecko data, ETHGas recorded the sharpest volume increase, jumping 197.70% over a 24-hour period to reach $11.1 million. Biconomy followed with $34.5 million in volume, up 46.70%, while Bubblemaps handled $12 million for a 25.70% gain. Nillion recorded $14.6 million in trading volume, representing a 21.40% increase.
The price action follows a familiar pattern seen earlier in the month, when six new Upbit listings lifted tokens such as Cysic and AIOZ Network. Upbit is listing the four new altcoins against Bitcoin and Tether, without introducing Korean won trading pairs. Deposits and withdrawals are scheduled to open within two hours of the announcement.
To manage market stability, Upbit applied its standard launch restrictions. Buy orders are restricted for approximately five minutes after trading begins, and sell orders priced 10% or more below the previous day's closing price are limited during that window. Additionally, only limit orders are available for approximately two hours following the launch.
