US Spot Bitcoin ETFs Near $100 Billion After Six-Day Inflow Streak

Bitcoin ETFs Extend Inflow Streak

US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds extended their inflow streak to six trading days on Monday, adding another $337.6 million to bring the total run to approximately $2.26 billion. The recent intake puts the funds on track for their strongest month of 2026, with August inflows reaching about $2.72 billion according to CryptoRank data, surpassing April's previous high of roughly $1.97 billion.

Nearly $1.92 billion of that capital arrived during a single week as Bitcoin surged through $70,000 and approached $80,000. On Tuesday, the cryptocurrency extended its rally above $80,000 for the first time since May, bringing its August gains to roughly 28%.

BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) captured the majority of the renewed demand, drawing about $1.33 billion last week and an additional $208.9 million on Monday. Fidelity's FBTC followed with approximately $104.6 million. Despite the recent rebound helping to reverse months of weak demand, the products remain down by roughly $2.57 billion in net outflows for the entirety of 2026.

Surging Turnover and Record Options Activity

The renewed inflows coincided with a sharp increase in market trading activity. Data from CheckOnChain indicated that US spot Bitcoin ETFs generated about $22.1 billion in turnover last week, more than triple the roughly $6.9 billion recorded the previous week. Monday added another $5.36 billion in trading volume.

Bullish demand also expanded into the options market. According to The Kobeissi Letter, call-option volume on BlackRock's IBIT fund reached a record 1.58 million contracts on Wednesday, remaining above 1 million contracts in each session through Friday. Call skew rose by 0.05 points over the period, marking the largest three-day increase in at least two years and indicating that traders were willing to pay higher premiums for upside exposure.

Assets Nearing $100 Billion Milestone

Driven by both fresh inflows and Bitcoin's price appreciation, total assets in US spot Bitcoin ETFs reached $98.56 billion, leaving the category roughly $1.44 billion short of the $100 billion threshold. This represents a rapid recovery from mid-August, when the funds held approximately $76.6 billion.

The asset base expanded by nearly $22 billion over six trading sessions, with the majority of the increase stemming from the rising market value of Bitcoin already held by the funds. While Bitcoin ETFs previously held more than $104 billion in mid-May before experiencing a sharp decline, the latest recovery places them within about 1.5% of reclaiming the $100 billion milestone.
