Visa has entered a production phase for stablecoin payments, announcing a partnership with Inyo Global, a Massachusetts-based payments infrastructure company, to bring Visa Direct stablecoin capabilities to institutional clients.
Through the partnership, Inyo Global will enable institutions to prefund cross-border USDC stablecoin payments 24/7 across more than 180 countries where Inyo operates. The system allows recipients to receive dollar-pegged assets in real time, offering predictable settlement values even outside traditional banking hours.
Vira Platonova, Global Head of Visa Direct, stated that the company had been working with multiple partners to explore stablecoin integration in their money platforms. "We're now seeing those efforts translate into live implementations, helping businesses access more flexible and efficient ways to fund and move money globally through Visa Direct, starting with Inyo Global as our first enabler," Platonova said.
Robson Dantas, chief product and technology officer and co-founder at Inyo Global, noted that the implementation would provide institutional customers with a new funding method available around the clock through existing Inyo APIs.
Visa has significantly expanded its stablecoin presence. The company reported that stablecoin settlements on its network reached a $20 billion annualized run rate, representing a 15x increase from the prior year. In September, Visa completed its first stablecoin settlement with Lloyds Banking Group, receiving $750,000 in USDC in a seven-day pilot that operated outside traditional banking hours.
