Crypto market commentator Scott Melker, known as Wolf of All Streets, has raised questions about XRP's growing prominence in mainstream cryptocurrency discussions, noting that the asset has become a distinct focus for investors compared with Bitcoin and Ethereum.
During a recent discussion with Tristan Thompson, Melker observed that people entering or following the crypto market are not necessarily asking whether they should buy Bitcoin or Ethereum. Instead, he said some are specifically asking about XRP.
"Your friends aren't asking, like, 'Is this a good time to buy Bitcoin and Ethereum?' They're specifically asking about XRP," Melker said.
Mainstream Adoption of XRP
Melker emphasized that XRP appears to have captured significant attention outside the cryptocurrency industry's more experienced investor base, noting that the mainstream audience has "really grabbed onto XRP." He clarified that he was not arguing whether investors should or should not be interested in the asset, but rather questioned how XRP managed to establish such a prominent position in mainstream cryptocurrency conversations.
While Bitcoin remains the largest and most widely recognized cryptocurrency and Ethereum has established itself as the leading smart-contract network, XRP continues to attract a highly engaged following and significant attention from both retail investors and the broader financial community.
The Role of Community
Thompson suggested that XRP's community could be a significant factor behind the asset's visibility. The XRP community has historically maintained a strong presence across social media platforms, where supporters regularly discuss developments surrounding XRP, Ripple, institutional adoption, regulation, and the broader XRP Ledger ecosystem.
Thompson characterized XRP supporters as highly committed, suggesting that conversations with dedicated XRP holders often involve detailed arguments for why they continue holding the asset.
Melker's remarks raise a broader question about XRP's market position: how a digital asset competing with much larger networks has managed to become one of the cryptocurrencies that mainstream investors specifically recognize and ask about.
