Winklevoss Asset Services filed an S-1 registration statement with the U.S. SEC on October 6 for a spot Zcash ETF seeking approval to list on Nasdaq. The proposed fund would hold ZEC directly rather than use futures or other derivatives.
If approved, the ETF would trade on Nasdaq under the symbol WINK, with ZEC held in custody by Gemini Trust Company. The fund structure uses a cash creation and redemption model where authorized participants contribute cash for new ETF shares and receive cash upon redemption, rather than transacting directly with the underlying cryptocurrency.
Winklevoss Asset Services would make ZEC purchases to facilitate additional share creation under this design. Cypherpunk Technologies is listed as a partner for Zcash network services. The ETF requires regulatory clearance before trading can begin.
Zcash has risen over 5% in the past 24 hours and is trading above $1,376, while the broader crypto market increased nearly 1% during the same period. The coin rallied from the $1,290–$1,300 range to $1,350, then pulled back to $1,320 before extending gains to $1,380. Resistance remains around $1,375–$1,380, with immediate support near $1,355–$1,360 and additional support at $1,340–$1,345.
The Zcash network's NU7 upgrade decision is scheduled for October 20, providing another market focus point for traders.
