World Liberty Financial has launched its USD1 stablecoin natively on the Canton Network, enabling institutions to utilize the asset for settling transactions involving tokenized real-world assets.
According to a Tuesday announcement, the stablecoin can serve as the cash leg for several institutional financial functions, including derivatives collateral, asset issuance and redemptions, and institutional lending. The native issuance enables USD1 to settle alongside tokenized assets within a single transaction while leveraging Canton's permissioning and privacy controls.
Industry data shows USD1 currently ranks as the sixth-largest stablecoin, holding a market capitalization of approximately $4.05 billion. The token is issued by BitGo Bank & Trust, which processes its mints and redemptions and manages its reserves.
World Liberty Financial, a crypto venture backed by the Trump family, was launched in 2024. Its USD1 stablecoin debuted in March 2025 and is backed by reserves consisting of dollar deposits, short-term US Treasurys, and government money market funds, according to the company.
The Canton Network is a public, permissionless blockchain built for institutional finance. The network reports that it processes and issues over $9 trillion in tokenized assets each month, with more than $350 billion in onchain US Treasurys moving across its infrastructure daily.
This integration follows another recent expansion for Canton. Digital Asset and the American Idea Foundation, founded by former US House Speaker Paul Ryan, announced plans last week to pilot a Canton-based system for distributing state-administered benefits across three US states starting in 2027.
