Worldcoin (WLD) rallied sharply on October 20 while the broader cryptocurrency market experienced a mild correction, with Bitcoin dropping 1.5% and Ethereum retreating 2%.
WLD surged to nearly $0.55 before settling around $0.53, according to CoinGecko data. The token's market capitalization climbed above the $2 billion mark, making it the 50th-largest cryptocurrency and displacing altcoins including Polkadot (DOT) and Aster (ASTER).
What Triggered the Rally
The price increase was driven by Worldcoin's announcement of World ID for banking and finance, a new identity-verification technology suite aimed at financial institutions. The disclosure revealed real-world applications including authentication for Zoom meetings and AI agents, along with collaborations involving Pantera Capital, VanEck Funds, and Bain Capital.
Technical and Analyst Outlook
Multiple analysts cited technical signals and chart patterns supporting further upside. Altcoin Sherpa described WLD as one of their active positions, expressing confidence in the project's fundamentals and expecting additional announcements ahead.
Sjuul of AltCryptoGems noted that WLD has retested high-timeframe resistance from above and held support, concluding that the downtrend appears over.
According to technical analysis, WLD's Relative Strength Index (RSI) stood at approximately 72, indicating overbought conditions that could precede a short-term pullback. The RSI ranges from 0 to 100, with readings above 70 traditionally signaling potential reversals.
Key price levels cited by analysts include $0.50, $0.54, and $0.47 as near-term reference points that may influence the token's next directional move.
