The Wyoming Stable Token Commission has transitioned its Frontier Stable Token (FRNT) away from LayerZero, choosing Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) as its exclusive cross-chain infrastructure.
According to the commission, a security review of its existing infrastructure raised concerns regarding LayerZero’s disclosure practices and operational security. Following this review, the commission determined that Chainlink's CCIP was the only solution that met its specific security and reliability requirements. Under the new agreement, the previous LayerZero infrastructure will be deprecated.
FRNT is a fully reserved stable token issued by Wyoming, backed by U.S. dollars and short-term U.S. Treasuries, with a 1:1 value against the U.S. dollar. The income generated from its reserves is directed toward the state’s School Foundation Program. The token currently operates across eight blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Solana, Base, Avalanche, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, and Hedera, making cross-chain infrastructure a vital component of the project.
This marks a notable institutional use case for Chainlink, as a U.S. state-backed stablecoin selects its technology to facilitate movement across multiple blockchain networks. The decision follows other recent infrastructure shifts to Chainlink, such as an announcement by Nethermind, providing Chainlink with an institutional reference point as it seeks to position CCIP as a standard infrastructure layer for digital assets.
