The cryptocurrency market saw altcoins take center stage over the weekend, led by a massive surge in Ripple's XRP. After dipping below $1.00 and fighting for that support level, XRP rebounded alongside the broader market to skyrocket past $1.65. The more than 65% jump allowed XRP to flip BNB in total market capitalization, even as BNB posted a 10% gain of its own.
Other alternative cryptocurrencies also posted strong gains. Ethereum reclaimed the $2,500 level following a 7% pump, while Solana, HYPE, Dogecoin, Cardano, Chainlink, Stellar, Bitcoin Cash, CC, and Litecoin recorded double-digit increases. Zcash surged 40% to reach $820, and the Official Trump (TRUMP) token reentered the top 100 altcoins by market cap after jumping over 62%.
These movements contributed to a broader market expansion, with the cumulative market cap of all crypto assets adding $100 billion in a single day and $500 billion since Wednesday to reach $2.760 trillion.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin maintained strong momentum after rebounding from a dip to $76,200. Earlier in the week, BTC climbed from under $65,000 to near $80,000 before pulling back slightly. The leading cryptocurrency now trades well above $78,000, holding a market cap of $1.575 trillion. Bitcoin's market dominance shifted slightly from 57.9% to 57.1% as altcoins captured a larger share of market activity.
