Ripple and the XRP Ledger Foundation (XRPLF) have launched an official X account and website for XRP, the native token of the decentralized XRP Ledger (XRPL). More than a decade after its creation, the dedicated account went live with the post, “Hello world. It’s about time.”
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse described the launch as “a long time coming.” The rollout was also welcomed by Ripple President Monica Long, CTO Emeritus David Schwartz, the XRP Ledger Foundation, and Evernorth Holdings, among others. Hours after the debut, the account shared a video highlighting crypto adoption, blockchain-enabled 24/7 payments, and mentioning the institutional research and brokerage firm Bernstein.
Reducing Confusion and Clarifying Identity
The new communication channels are designed to give the XRP asset its own voice and followers, providing a unified channel for community updates, education, and announcements. Jointly managed by Ripple and XRPLF, the platform aims to reduce confusion between the XRP token and the company Ripple, which have historically been used interchangeably.
According to xrp.org, XRP is not issued by Ripple, does not represent a share in the company, and is not mined. It features a fixed supply of 100 billion tokens that were created in 2012. Ripple serves as a key contributor to the development of the XRP Ledger, but the ledger remains open-source, decentralized, and maintained by independent validators.
Ecosystem Context and Institutional Interest
The launch arrives ahead of the Ripple Swell 2026 conference in New York, where industry leaders are scheduled to discuss tokenization and on-chain finance. The XRPL network settles transactions in 3 to 5 seconds for low fees paid in XRP. Operating continuously for over 14 years, the decentralized blockchain has processed more than $1 trillion in value to support cross-border payments, stablecoins, tokenized real-world assets, and trading.
While a detailed roadmap was not shared, initial posts and the newly launched website emphasize ecosystem updates, education, and responsible use over price speculation, strengthening both community and institutional engagement.
