XRP Ledger validators have advanced a maintenance amendment while the network's proposed native lending features follow a distinct approval path.
The fixCleanup3_4_0 amendment has cleared the 80% support threshold required from validators in recent snapshots and has begun the sustained-consensus period necessary for activation. If support holds throughout this window, the amendment could activate in late October.
Technical Maintenance and Governance Requirements
The cleanup package addresses technical issues around several XRPL features, including vault and lending-related logic. Validators require confidence that edge cases are resolved before activation, as enabling complex financial functions directly in a blockchain's rules creates limited room for adjustment once live.
XRPL amendments require support from more than four-fifths of a server's trusted validator list over a sustained period. A temporary majority is insufficient for activation.
Lending Amendment on Separate Track
Native lending remains a separate matter from the cleanup amendment. The presence of code in a server release does not make the lending protocol available to users, and the cleanup amendment should not be interpreted as approval of the entire lending feature set.
Validators are being asked to approve changes to shared financial infrastructure that all network participants must respect. The immediate milestone is whether the cleanup amendment maintains its required voting support through the full activation window, while lending will require its own consensus outcome.
