XRP gained 36.9% in August 2026, putting the token on track for its best-performing month of the year. The surge came after a weak start to the month, when XRP fell more than 6.8% and reached a yearly low of $0.9874 on August 14. A strong recovery began on August 19, with the token trading at $1.43 at month's end.
August 2026 now ranks as the third-best August in XRP's history. August 2021 remains the strongest with a 58.9% gain, followed by August 2017 at 45.2%. The current month's 36.9% gain far exceeds XRP's historical August average of 2.6%.
Historical September Performance
Market analyst EGRAG examined XRP's September history to assess what may follow the August rally. The strongest September performances occurred in 2018, 2013, and 2016, with gains of 73.4%, 93%, and 56.2% respectively.
Notably, when August closes with gains, September has ended higher 66.7% of the time. Conversely, when August closes lower, September has declined 85.7% of the time. This pattern suggests a green August could provide a statistical advantage for September performance.
Technical Levels and Consolidation
Trading volume has declined from its $16.87 billion peak during the rally, suggesting XRP has entered a consolidation phase after the 107% increase in August volume. The 200-day moving average sits at $1.34, below the current price. Holding above this level would maintain the longer-term uptrend.
Key support is at $1.36, while resistance lies in the $1.48 to $1.50 zone. A move back above this resistance area could restore stronger bullish momentum.
