An analyst examined what XRP's price would be if the token reached a $500 billion market capitalization, taking into account Ripple's ongoing token distribution from escrow.
The Calculation
Based on current circulating supply of 62.74 billion XRP tokens, a $500 billion market cap would translate to approximately $8 per token. However, Ripple continues releasing tokens from escrow at an average pace of about 268 million per month.
If that distribution rate continues through 2029, approximately 9.1 billion additional tokens would enter circulation, bringing the total to 71.9 billion. Dividing the $500 billion target by this projected supply yields a price of $6.96 per token. The analyst noted that depending on the speed of token releases, the price target could range from $6.85 to $7.20.
The analyst also noted that unlocking escrowed tokens does not necessarily mean all of them immediately enter the circulating supply, as a portion may be returned to escrow or kept under company control.
Current Market Position
XRP currently trades at $1.42, giving it a market capitalization of approximately $89 billion. Reaching a $500 billion valuation would require an increase of more than 460%.
Recent price action showed XRP surging from $1.00 to $1.70 within days before declining, demonstrating that investor appetite can shift rapidly. Large holders have been withdrawing funds from major exchanges, and some analysts remain bullish on the token's potential for significant price movements.
