XRP Rich List Threshold Falls to 2,065 Tokens as Account Growth Accelerates

The threshold for ranking among the top 10% of XRP Ledger accounts fell to 2,065 tokens on October 25, 2026, according to XRPScan data. At an XRP price of $1.29 on that date, the holdings were worth approximately $2,664.

The decline does not necessarily indicate that large investors are purchasing XRP from smaller holders. Instead, the addition of more accounts holding minimal amounts of XRP has lowered the threshold needed to reach the top 10%.

Account Distribution on the XRP Ledger

Of the 8.26 million funded accounts recorded on October 25, approximately 2.63 million held between 1 and 10 XRP, while another 3.49 million held between 10 and 100 XRP. Together, these accounts represented about 74% of all XRP Ledger accounts.

The distribution breakdown shows:

  • Top 10%: 2,065 XRP
  • Top 5%: 7,244 XRP
  • Top 1%: 43,451 XRP
  • Top 0.1%: 271,644 XRP

These figures reflect account balances on the ledger and do not indicate how much XRP individual investors own.

Reserve Changes Drove Account Growth

The XRP Ledger reduced its minimum account reserve from 10 XRP to 1 XRP on December 2, 2024. This change allowed users to open accounts with smaller balances. The number of funded accounts subsequently rose from more than 5 million in January 2024 to over 8.26 million by October 25, 2026.

As more small accounts joined the ledger, the top 10% threshold declined progressively: from 2,143 XRP on August 11 to 2,088 XRP on October 8 and 2,065 XRP on October 25, 2026.

Limitations of Account-Level Data

XRP Ledger account rankings do not directly measure how much cryptocurrency individual investors own. Investors who purchase XRP through an exchange and leave holdings in custodial accounts do not appear as separate holders on the ledger. Their balances are instead included in the exchange's wallets.

Institutional holdings create similar complications. A June 2026 filing showed that an XRP investment fund held approximately 286.8 million XRP. Although the fund may have many investors, its underlying holdings can be concentrated in a small number of custodial accounts.

Evernorth, a publicly traded XRP treasury company, holds approximately 473 million XRP. Corporate holdings can influence account-level distribution figures without representing the holdings of a single individual investor.

Ripple's escrowed XRP adds another layer of complexity. Approximately 32.6 billion XRP was held in escrow as of June 30, 2026. These balances contribute to the ledger's overall distribution but are not equivalent to freely available holdings owned by retail investors.

What the Data Reveals

The fall in the top 10% threshold does not, by itself, prove that XRP supply is shrinking or that large investors are accumulating tokens from retail holders. Understanding changes in XRP ownership requires consideration of exchange wallets, institutional holdings, and movements in large accounts alongside account-level distribution metrics.
