XRP's circulating supply of approximately 63.09 billion tokens provides a measure of the market's scale, but this figure alone does not indicate how much XRP is available for purchase at any given price. According to order-book data from October 8, Binance's XRP/USDT pair showed about $2.4 million in depth at +2%, while Coinbase's XRP/USD pair showed $4.0 million at the same level. These snapshots reflect sell orders across specific price ranges and change as traders adjust their positions.
Understanding XRP's available supply requires examining multiple measurement categories that often overlap. XRP Insights, a ledger-data tracker, reported 21.97 billion XRP held in exchange-attributed wallets across 699 wallets and 24 venues as of October 8, a figure that includes both pooled customer assets and cold storage. The same tracker measured 68.59 billion XRP outside Ripple's escrow after accounting for token burns, while an additional 31.40 billion XRP remains escrowed.
The difference between these supply estimates reflects different methodologies. Market-reported circulation excludes escrowed tokens and sometimes excludes unlocked team or foundation holdings. XRP Insights uses a broader definition that captures non-escrowed supply. These measurements cannot be added or subtracted sequentially to produce a single accurate float total because they use overlapping categories and different dates.
Fund custody introduces another layer of complexity. Bitwise's XRP fund held approximately 419.96 million XRP on October 6, while Franklin's XRPZ held about 295.83 million on October 5. These holdings restrict direct access for ordinary investors, though authorized participants in the funds retain redemption options through either direct XRP delivery or cash from XRP sales.
Ripple's disclosures show the company held 37.656 billion XRP overall as of June 30, 2026, with 32.6 billion in protocol escrow. This leaves roughly 5.056 billion outside escrow, though company transfers to investment vehicles may remain classified as Ripple-held until the firm expects them to enter the broader market.
XRP Radar estimates founder holdings at approximately 4.60 billion XRP and lists an unverifiable 531 million XRP as lost or inaccessible, including long-dormant accounts. These figures do not demonstrate current locked balances in the way protocol escrow does, which uses release conditions to restrict token movement.
A defensible measure of buyable XRP would require specifying a price limit, a time window, and coverage of both executable exchange offers and over-the-counter deals. Holdings data must also be reconciled to avoid counting the same coins multiple times. Circulating supply figures provide market scale and custody data shows where tokens are held, but buyers ultimately depend on the specific sell orders available for the trades they intend to execute.
