Ripple-linked XRP jumped 10% over a 24-hour period, bringing its total weekly gains to over 50%. The upward movement coincided with a wider cryptocurrency market rally driven higher after the U.S. Treasury doubled its bond buybacks.
Amid the price resurgence, asset manager 21Shares reported that the XRP ecosystem is experiencing fundamental changes that were absent or less developed a year ago. Managing roughly $11 billion in assets, the firm outlined four key structural developments shaping the network's evolution.
Key Structural Developments Highlighted by 21Shares
- Strong inflows: Significant capital moving into spot XRP exchange-traded products (ETPs).
- Supply dilution: Relatively low annual supply dilution when compared to competing networks.
- RLUSD expansion: Explosive growth in Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin supply, largely issued on the XRP Ledger.
- Settlement and fees: Increasing settlement volumes alongside declining transaction fee revenue.
These trends indicate that XRP's utility and market structure are transitioning beyond mere speculation. 21Shares also raised the possibility of XRP becoming more widely used as collateral, which could alter the balance between supply and demand.
At the time of reporting, XRP traded at $1.48, recovering from approximately 99 cents earlier in the week and positioning itself as the top-performing asset among the top 10 large-cap cryptocurrencies.
