XRP topped the list of crypto assets drained from the centralized exchange Bitget during a security breach on September 25, 2026. Research showed that 102,926,478 XRP tokens, valued at over $157.4 million, were siphoned from one of the exchange's hot wallets.
The breach also involved the theft of 31,890 Ethereum and 12,719 Binance Coin. Following the incident, Bitget temporarily suspended withdrawals.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen reassured users that their funds are safe and that the platform's User Protection Fund can fully cover the stolen amount. At the time of publication, the protection fund held over $464 million.
Despite the attack, XRP's price performance remained bullish over a 24-hour period, driven by rising whale demand and broader positive market sentiment. The token surged over 16% over a seven-day period, trading at $1.56 at the time of reporting. Data from Santiment indicated that over a five-day period, XRPL addresses holding between 1 million and 10 million tokens increased their holdings by 470 million tokens, valued at approximately $724 million.
CoinMarketCap metrics showed Bitget's XRP trading volume over a 24-hour period stood at $40,800,916, accounting for 0.85% of the token's total reported volume of $4.7 billion.
