Large XRP investors have acquired over 1.6 billion tokens over the past two weeks as the broader market exhibits signs of recovery, according to on-chain data from market intelligence platform Santiment.
The accumulation activity follows a period of market movement that saw XRP fall to a low of $1.25 on September 16 before mounting a rebound that reached a local top of $1.6569 on September 23.
Whale Accumulation Metrics
Data indicates that whales holding between 10 million and 100 million XRP significantly increased their holdings during this recovery window. On September 20, these large holders collectively maintained a balance of 12.32 billion tokens. By September 25, that figure rose sharply to 13.74 billion XRP, reflecting an addition of 1.42 billion tokens in just five days.
Following a brief pause and minor distribution, the accumulation resumed toward the end of September. At press time, the cumulative balance for this group reached a historic high of 13.93 billion XRP, valued at approximately $20.61 billion. In total, these whales added 1.61 billion XRP, worth roughly $2.38 billion, since September 20.
Growth in Whale Addresses
Alongside the rising cumulative balance, the network has observed an increase in the number of large-tier wallet addresses since mid-August. On August 19, approximately 355 addresses held balances between 10 million and 1 billion XRP. By press time, that number climbed to 392, marking an addition of 37 wallets to the tier over a six-week period.
Specifically, addresses holding between 10 million and 100 million tokens increased from 316 to 351. Meanwhile, wallets holding between 100 million and 1 billion tokens rose from 39 to 41, following a peak of 47 earlier in the cycle.
