Young Crypto Voters Slam Trump Token Sales as Greedy Cash Grabs

Recent opinions from focus group participants and reports from investors in Donald Trump's cryptocurrency endeavors indicate a shift in how the crypto community views his digital asset dealings. This change in sentiment occurs despite his support for clear regulations for the crypto industry.

Decline in Young Voter Support

According to reports, Trump's popularity has declined among independent and moderate 18-to-24-year-olds. David, a participant from South Carolina in a focus group organized by the Bulwark Focus Group podcast, criticized Trump's involvement in crypto as a cash grab, questioning why a billionaire continues to launch such ventures.

Another participant described the TRUMP meme coin as a cash grab aimed at preying on crypto-savvy followers, labeling the endeavor as a grift. Data indicates that Trump's support among 18-to-29-year-olds fell from 43% to 19% according to a Fox News poll. This contrasts with his relationship with prominent crypto figures, as he was a main driver for the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, or CLARITY Act, which failed to achieve the necessary votes for cloture in the Senate.

Investor Sentiment and Financial Backlash

The perception of profit-driven ventures is also shared by investors in Trump's meme coins and crypto companies. Morten Christensen, an investor with a substantial holding of TRUMP tokens, noted that Trump's reputation has suffered compared to when he was running for president. Christensen observed a significant negative shift in online reactions following the second meme coin event at Mar-a-Lago this year, contrasting with the response from the first event in May 2025.

Financial records show that Trump has earned at least $500 million from World Liberty Financial token sales. The platform issued USD1, a dollar-pegged stablecoin with a market capitalization exceeding $4 billion, further fueling the backlash that his crypto ventures are primarily profit-driven.
