Yuga Labs, the company behind Bored Ape Yacht Club, launched Mudwater, a new trading card collection on Solana on October 17, 2026. The debut set, called "Swamp Origins," became available for BAYC and Mutant Ape Yacht Club holders to claim, with the rollout coinciding with ApeFest 2026 in Charleston.
Collection Details
The Swamp Origins set features 120 distinct artworks built around Bored Ape imagery. Cards are offered in four tiers: standard, foil, serialized, and a rare "cracked-ice" edition. The collection includes 8 serialized cracked-ice 1/1 cards at the top of the rarity spectrum.
Each card links a physical collectible to a matching Solana NFT held in a vault, creating ownership both as a physical item and on the blockchain.
Claim Process and Eligibility
Eligibility for claims is determined through Totems, which are ERC-6551 token-bound accounts functioning as NFT wallets. BAYC holders received access to claim 10 packs each, while MAYC holders can claim 2 packs. Every pack contains 10 cards.
More than 140,000 packs are available to claim during the window that remains open until January 19, 2027. Yuga plans for a total supply extending beyond the initial claims phase, with 10,000 boxes planned, each holding 24 packs.
Fee Mechanism and ApeCoin Integration
Mudwater includes a 2.5% reflection on NFT trades that automatically purchases ApeCoin ($APE), which is then distributed to Mudwater NFT holders in proportion to their holdings. Trading occurs on OpenSea, where separate listings are available for Totems, Packs, and Cards.
Future Plans
A demo of card gameplay is available in Otherside, Yuga's metaverse platform. The company has indicated that further expansions within the metaverse are possible. Yuga also plans to let collectors upgrade packs into boxes and cases, with upgradeable game elements on the roadmap.
