Zcash Advocacy Group Registers First Lobbyist in Washington

Zcash now has registered representation on Capitol Hill. Pretty Good Policy for Zcash (PGPZ), a 501(c)(4) advocacy group, has registered its first lobbyist, with the filing submitted during the week of October 4, 2026.

Divij Pandya, the group's executive director, was named in the filing. Pandya previously worked at FS Vector and will lead lobbying, policy analysis, and coalition-building efforts at PGPZ.

Organization and Agenda

PGPZ launched in summer 2026 with a focus on policy education, coordination, and advocacy specific to the Zcash ecosystem. The group's policy priorities span financial privacy, digital asset market structure, developer protections, anti-money laundering rules, sanctions, and tax policy.

The organization is seeking a $750,000 grant from Zcash Community Grants to fund its first year of operations.

Building on Prior Advocacy Efforts

PGPZ's formation follows years of Zcash advocacy work led by the Zcash Open Development Lab (ZODL) and Paul Brigner. Earlier efforts involved policy events and briefings that helped shape discussions around privacy-centric legislation in the United States.

ZODL will continue its work on core protocol development, infrastructure, and wallet development while supporting PGPZ's independence as a standalone advocacy organization.

Key Policy Areas

The CLARITY Act represents a significant focus for the group. As market structure legislation determines how digital assets are classified and supervised, dedicated advocacy for privacy considerations in those discussions carries particular importance.

Developer protections also rank as a core priority, as regulations affecting those who write and publish code have substantial implications for open-source projects.
