Zcash (ZEC) has surged to $1,220, establishing itself as one of the top-performing assets in the cryptocurrency market. The recent rally represents a more than 50% increase over recent days and follows a decisive breakout above a long-standing resistance zone between $650 and $700.
The upward price movement is largely driven by accelerating institutional interest. Grayscale's ZEC ETF (ZCSH) has surpassed $500 million in assets under management, holding more than 464,000 ZEC and expanding institutional access to the token.
Technical Indicators and Key Resistance Levels
Following its push above $1,200, ZEC is trading well above major moving averages. Technical metrics show that the Cumulative Volume Delta (CVD) has turned positive and strengthened, reflecting active buying support. The asset is currently holding local support above $1,162, with the next major resistance level standing at $1,435. Analysts note that clearing and holding this level could open a path toward the psychological $1,500 threshold, provided buying volume remains steady.
Derivatives Market Activity and Leverage Risks
Derivatives activity has increased alongside the spot price, with Open Interest climbing sharply as ZEC moved through the $1,000 and $1,200 levels. This indicates that fresh positions are entering the market rather than the rally relying solely on spot purchases.
While the rising Open Interest has fueled the breakout, market observers note that high leverage introduces potential risks. A rapid accumulation of open interest can make the token vulnerable to sudden liquidations if the price reverses, potentially magnifying any market correction. Maintaining a price level above $1,200 while open interest remains stable is seen by market participants as a sign that the broader bullish trend may remain intact.
