Zcash (ZEC) experienced a 12% price surge alongside a broader market rally, driven by institutional developments including a new regulatory filing and a potential multi-million-dollar token acquisition plan.

Grayscale submitted an amendment to convert its Zcash Trust into a spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) that would trade on NYSE Arca under the proposed ticker symbol ZCSH. The product is intended to provide investors with a conventional market-access route to ZEC without holding the asset directly.

Additionally, a Digital Currency Group (DCG) subsidiary is in non-binding discussions to acquire approximately 200,000 ZEC, valued at around $110 million at current valuations. While the transaction could ultimately be smaller or fail to materialize, the potential scale introduced significant demand expectations to the market.

The institutional news coincided with an upward movement across the broader digital asset market, which saw Bitcoin push above $70,000 alongside gains in Ethereum and other major assets.

Prior to the rally, ZEC had spent weeks moving within a compressed structure. The latest surge broke through the $520 to $550 region. Market watchers are closely monitoring whether the asset can hold above the $550 area to sustain the breakout, with psychological and technical targets positioned near $600 and beyond.
