Eric Trump, co-founder and president's son of American Bitcoin, stated that the company mines between 11 and 13 BTC daily while maintaining gross margins close to 49%, with approximately 90,000 miners in operation. The figures were cited during an appearance on the Wolf Financial podcast.
American Bitcoin was founded in 2025 by Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., later merging with Gryphon Digital Mining to list on Nasdaq under the ticker ABTC in September 2025. Hut 8 Corp, which backed the venture, remains the majority shareholder.
Production and Treasury Growth
The company mined 932 BTC in the second quarter of 2026, marking its highest output to date. Gross margins that quarter reached approximately 49%, aligning with Trump's stated figure.
American Bitcoin's treasury has grown to approximately 8,300 BTC as of late August, up from roughly 5,401 BTC at the end of 2025. With Bitcoin trading near $77,696, the reserve holds a paper value exceeding $600 million.
Ongoing Cost Debate
The margin claim follows a spring dispute regarding the firm's true production costs. Forbes reported that American Bitcoin's all-in cost ran closer to $90,000 per coin, contrasting with the roughly $57,000 figure Trump has cited. Trump rejected the report as politically motivated.
American Bitcoin markets its no-sale treasury policy as evidence that mining Bitcoin is cheaper than purchasing it directly, though this comparison depends on which cost figure proves accurate. Neither side has published a fully reconciled cost breakdown since the dispute.
