Ahead of Tesla's exclusive Cybercab event scheduled for Thursday, September 3, in Austin, Texas, Wall Street analysts remain relatively unfazed by the upcoming showcase, according to commentary from Morgan Stanley's Andrew Percoco.
Reflecting on previous similar showcases that generated mixed market results, Morgan Stanley opined that a simple unveiling of the autonomous taxi car is unlikely to trigger a substantial rally. Despite noting a possibility for more impactful revelations, the firm retained its previous Equal Weight and Hold rating for Tesla shares alongside a 12-month price target of $400.
Tesla has gradually increased marketing efforts for the Austin event since late August, promoting its self-driving technology with claims that it will make streets safer and change lives. However, details regarding the exclusive event have remained elusive, leaving uncertainty over whether the presentation will feature larger-than-expected reveals or simply heightened promotional buildup.
Meanwhile, the upcoming launch has produced no meaningful reaction from investors. Although Tesla stock rallied 8.99% through August following a post-earnings market crash that created a buying opportunity, shares have since declined over the trailing two weeks, dropping to $351.05 in early-morning trading on September 2 and falling 3% relative to August 21.
Broader performance indicators show that Tesla stock has declined 19.86% since the beginning of 2026, trading nearly 30% below the highs recorded in late 2025.
