Apple unveiled a revamped Health app that calculates biological age through a metric called Health Age, combining data from wearable sensors and laboratory blood work.
The company partnered with Quest Diagnostics to offer a blood panel of more than 50 biomarkers for $119, available to U.S. users. The Health Age score integrates VO2 max readings, sleep data, and blood biomarkers to assess whether measurements align with a user's calendar age.
Results sync to the iPhone alongside watch readings and explanatory videos from clinical experts. Users without the blood panel can manually enter lab results or sync existing medical records.
The updated Health app will launch later this year in U.S. English, with additional languages to follow. The feature requires Apple Intelligence on iOS 27 and iPadOS 27.
Apple also introduced a Longevity tab that evaluates sleep, movement, and heart health against clinical guidance. The new Health Sensing System in the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 records heart rate every five seconds during the day and measures heart-rate variability up to 24 times more frequently than previous models.
The Series 12 and Ultra 4 include a daily readiness score ranging from 0 to 10 that analyzes recent activity, vitals, and sleep to provide one of four recommendations: Recover, Pace Yourself, Ready, or Go For It. This score updates throughout the day as new data arrives.
Apple conducted a study of more than 1,000 people across demographic groups to validate the accuracy of its redesigned optical and electrical sensors, comparing performance against leading wearables.
