ARK Invest's latest research indicates a significant rise in institutional crypto interest, driven by regulated investment vehicles. According to the firm, spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds and digital asset trusts currently control 12.2% of Bitcoin's total circulating supply.
As of November 2025, ARK's own crypto-linked assets across its suite of ETFs have surpassed $2.15 billion. The firm's flagship fintech ETF, ARKF, has allocated approximately 29% of its portfolio to digital assets. This includes holdings in major crypto-adjacent companies such as Coinbase and Circle, as well as ARK's own ARKB Bitcoin ETF, providing investors with multiple entry points into the ecosystem. ARK also continued to purchase crypto-related equities during market dips throughout 2025 and into 2026.
In an effort to expand access and diversify product offerings, ARK filed for two crypto index ETFs tied to the CoinDesk 20 in December 2025. One of the proposed funds includes Bitcoin exposure, while the other excludes it using futures, allowing investors to choose whether to include the flagship asset in their broader crypto portfolios. The CoinDesk 20 index tracks the largest digital assets by market capitalization.
ARK's research highlights a broader market transition from retail-driven speculation to institutional demand channeled through regulated vehicles like spot ETFs. By expanding into broader crypto index products, the firm is positioning itself in a segment distinct from single-asset Bitcoin funds.
