Binance announced that it has restored 90% of the assets lost in the recent security breach that affected roughly $6.3 billion worth of cryptocurrency.
In a post on X, the exchange confirmed that it had initially set aside more than $6.34 billion from company funds to cover the incident. It said that assets including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Tether (USDT), Binance Coin (BNB), Solana (SOL), USD Coin (USDC), Ripple (XRP), USD 1, RLUSD and Zcash (ZEC) are now fully backed.
Binance added that it will continue to purchase the remaining affected tokens through market and over‑the‑counter (OTC) channels until the coverage reaches 100% for all assets. The exchange emphasized that the financial impact will be absorbed by Binance, not its users.
Funding Sources Used
The replenishment effort drew on several internal reserves. Binance transferred 7,499 BTC from its Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU), used part of its Futures insurance fund—a regulatory requirement—and supplemented the rest with corporate treasury resources.
Remaining 10% of Assets
The exchange indicated that the remaining 10% of the stolen assets consist of tokens outside the top‑10 list it previously mentioned. These assets are less liquid, so Binance expects a longer acquisition timeline and is working with industry partners to complete the purchases.
Withdrawal Services
Binance said it remains on track to resume user withdrawals by November 1, pending the completion of the asset‑replenishment process.
