Federal prosecutors have secured lengthy prison sentences against two Texas brothers convicted in a violent cryptocurrency kidnapping case. Raymond Christian Garcia and Isiah Angelo Garcia of Waller, Texas, were sentenced before U.S. District Judge Donovan W. Frank on October 29th, 2026, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Minnesota.
The brothers traveled from Texas and held a family at gunpoint for more than nine hours inside their Grant home. They restrained the family members with zip ties while demanding access to the victim’s cryptocurrency accounts. When the initial transfer did not meet their expectations, the brothers forced the victim to drive Isiah Garcia to a family cabin located in upstate Minnesota.
At the cabin, the captor compelled the victim to retrieve additional cryptocurrency storage devices and transfer further funds. The defendants ultimately forced the victim to send more than $8 million in cryptocurrency. They fled the scene after the victim’s son called 911, and law enforcement subsequently tracked them down and arrested them near Houston, Texas.
Commenting on the case, FBI Minneapolis Field Office Special Agent in Charge Christopher D. Dotson stated that the defendants violated the sanctity of a home, abducted a victim, terrorized a family at gunpoint, and disrupted an entire community in a brazen act of violence and greed.
Raymond Christian Garcia and Isiah Angelo Garcia received prison sentences of 180 months and 186 months, respectively.
