U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $201.9 million in net outflows on August 28, snapping a nine-day inflow streak that had accumulated $2.8 billion since mid-August. The reversal reduced cumulative net inflows to approximately $55.1 billion, with the funds now holding roughly $93.9 billion in total net assets.
The pullback interrupted an otherwise robust run for Bitcoin funds. During the eight-day streak preceding the outflow, daily inflows repeatedly exceeded $300 million, peaking above $600 million on August 20. The funds had recorded their largest single-day inflow since May during this period as Bitcoin tested $80,000.
Ethereum ETFs, by contrast, continued to attract capital. The funds took in $102.1 million on August 28, extending a 10-day inflow streak and bringing cumulative net inflows to approximately $12.9 billion against $13.8 billion in total net assets.
The diverging flows reflected broader market movements, as Bitcoin declined following remarks from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh at Jackson Hole. Bitcoin later recovered to around $79,000 over the weekend.
The single-day outflow remains modest relative to the tens of billions accumulated by Bitcoin funds since their launch in January 2024. Market observers note that the interruption of a single inflow streak does not necessarily signal a reversal in institutional appetite, which has remained robust across both assets.
