Spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced $462.73 million in cumulative net outflows during the week of September 8-11, a sharp reversal from August's strong performance when BTC ETFs recorded $3.52 billion in inflows.
The selling pressure intensified throughout the week. On September 9, net outflows reached $120.2 million, with Ark Invest's ARKB declining $78.0 million and Grayscale GBTC falling $27.2 million. September 10 proved the worst day, with $282.7 million in outflows, though pressure eased slightly on September 11 with $13.2 million in outflows.
The outflows coincided with Bitcoin's price decline from around $79,000 to $77,324.76, a drop of 2.9% over the week. Grayscale GBTC and ARKB were the primary sources of selling pressure across the period.
Ethereum ETFs Chart Different Course
Spot Ethereum ETFs demonstrated stronger resilience, recording a significant $216.4 million net inflow on September 11. BlackRock's ETHA led the gains with $148.8 million, followed by ETHB with $18.3 million. Earlier in the week, ETH ETFs posted a $34.7 million inflow on September 9, though selling pressure returned on September 10.
Mixed Results Across Altcoins
Other altcoin ETFs showed mixed patterns during the same period. Solana ETFs recorded $10.30 million in inflows, primarily from Bitwise's BSOL, while XRP ETFs saw no net flows and Hyperliquid ETFs recorded $26.42 million in outflows.
Despite the week's outflows, the altcoin index stood at 40, suggesting Bitcoin maintains market dominance. The Crypto Fear and Greed Index remained in the 'Greed' zone at 63, indicating investor bullishness and suggesting the outflow period may represent temporary market consolidation rather than a fundamental shift in sentiment.
