Bitcoin made another attempt to surpass the $80,000 level on Monday morning, but the primary cryptocurrency was denied once again. After reaching $80,500, BTC dipped below $79,000 before finding some support, maintaining a market capitalization of $1.6 trillion.
Market volatility earlier in the period saw Bitcoin fluctuate significantly. Following a hawkish speech by Kevin Warsh, BTC fell below $77,000 in late August, and later dropped to $76,400 on September 2 and 3. Bulls subsequently stepped in, pushing the asset to $82,400 on Thursday—its highest level since mid-May—before a strong U.S. jobs report on Friday triggered a dive to $78,800.
Major altcoins experienced varied price action over the 24-hour period. Ethereum remained inches away from $2,500, BNB dipped beneath $750, and XRP fought to hold the $1.40 support level. Meanwhile, several larger-cap assets posted notable gains, including LINK rising 9% to well over $13, TAO increasing 14% to $267, MNT climbing 7.5% to $0.635, ICP gaining 12.6%, and WLD advancing by over 14.5%.
Conversely, ARB was rejected at the $0.20 resistance level and fell by over 13% daily. Pi Network's native token remained above the $0.09 support level and challenged the key $0.095 resistance, sitting just below it. The total cryptocurrency market capitalization stood at $2.710 trillion.
