Chainlink's CCIP 2.0 cross-chain infrastructure is now live, targeting institutional adoption and regulated asset transfers across blockchain networks. The platform currently secures $84 billion in total cross-chain token value, with $15 billion actively migrating to the system.
Institutional Risk Controls and Verification
CCIP 2.0 introduces Custom Cross-Chain Verifiers (CCVs) designed to address security concerns that have plagued legacy bridge systems. Historical cross-chain exploits have resulted in over $3.3 billion in losses, prompting demand for more robust infrastructure.
The new verification system can be deployed within Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud environments. Enterprise operators including Infosys and Nethermind also provide verification services, offering institutions multiple options for managing cross-chain transfers.
Settlement Flexibility and Compliance Integration
Asset issuers gain granular control over settlement processes through CCIP 2.0. High-frequency transfers can execute on faster paths, while high-value transactions can require full finality confirmation and time-delayed approvals.
Native integration with Chainlink ACE embeds compliance controls directly into cross-chain transfers. These include issuer-defined KYC, AML, sanctions screening, allowlists, and exposure limits, shifting compliance from peripheral processes to core infrastructure.
Major Token Migrations and Network Support
Early adoption includes significant wrapped Bitcoin variants migrating to CCIP 2.0: BitGo's WBTC, Coinbase's cbBTC, and Kraken's kBTC. The infrastructure has also gained support from major blockchain networks and protocols including Arbitrum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Aave, and ZKsync.
