Crypto Market Gains as Bitcoin Approaches $86,000 Ahead of Jobs Report

The crypto market is gaining momentum at the start of October, with Bitcoin climbing toward $86,000 and Ethereum and XRP also advancing. The rally is being driven by traders repositioning ahead of the U.S. September jobs report, which economists expect to show payroll growth slowing to roughly 90,000 with unemployment at 4.1%.

Several factors are supporting the recovery. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted approximately $2.65 billion in September, though the latest session saw $148.7 million in outflows after a nine-session inflow streak. Treasury yields have eased from Thursday's high of 5.34%, now sitting around 5.25%. Derivatives positioning is also recovering, with Bitcoin open interest rebuilding alongside price.

The market enters October following a strong third quarter, with Bitcoin gaining more than 40% and Ethereum jumping more than 70% during the period.

Bitcoin Price Action

Bitcoin is pushing back toward the $85,000–$85,500 region after reclaiming the $80,000 area. A decisive move through $86,500 would strengthen the recovery and expose $87,500–$90,000. Above $90,000, the $95,000–$100,000 supply zone becomes the next major target. On the downside, $82,000–$80,000 is the key retest zone.

Ethereum and Altcoins

Ethereum is holding around $2,650–$2,700 after recovering above the $2,500 region. Buyers are rebuilding momentum but approaching major resistance around $2,800–$2,900. A breakout above that zone would put $3,000–$3,200 into focus, with $2,500–$2,550 now serving as the first major support.

XRP is holding around $1.48–$1.50 after recovering from its lower demand zone. The next major hurdle sits at $1.60–$1.70. A breakout above $1.70 would open $1.80–$1.90, followed by the $2.10–$2.20 supply zone.

Market Outlook

The crypto market recovery is being shaped by macro positioning, institutional flows, and improving derivatives activity. Bitcoin remains the market's main signal, and a sustained breakout through $85,500–$90,000 would give Ethereum and major altcoins more room to extend their recoveries. The U.S. jobs data could determine whether the current rebound develops into a broader fourth-quarter move or remains range-bound.
