DeFi Development Corp., a Nasdaq-listed company, acquired 22,070 SOL tokens valued at approximately $2.43 million, adding to a treasury that now totals roughly $284.9 million.
Since rebranding its business around Solana accumulation in April 2025, the company has established itself as a vehicle for public market investors to gain SOL exposure through equity markets rather than through direct crypto holdings. The company trades under the ticker DFDV.
Recent Purchase Activity
The latest acquisition follows a purchase of 26,203 SOL in the prior week. Since resuming active buying in late August 2026, DeFi Development Corp. has increased its position by more than 226,000 SOL and equivalents through a combination of outright purchases and staking rewards.
As of early October 2026, the firm's treasury reached approximately 2.564 million SOL and SOL equivalents, valued at about $302 million.
How the Strategy Works
The company operates its own Solana validators, which process network transactions and earn rewards for securing the blockchain. By running validators in-house, DeFi Development Corp. retains a larger share of those rewards rather than paying fees to third-party operators.
To fund continued SOL accumulation, the company established a variable rate Series C Perpetual Preferred Stock program called CHAD, with a capacity of up to $300 million. Chief Executive Joseph Onorati has described the treasury model as providing leveraged exposure to Solana.
What Investors Should Monitor
The company's purchasing cadence—weekly buys ranging from approximately 22,000 to 26,000 SOL—suggests a structured accumulation rhythm. The CHAD program's ability to raise capital will influence the pace of future acquisitions, while sustained declines in SOL prices could affect both the treasury's value and investor confidence in the leveraged exposure strategy.
