Democrats Win Congress as Crypto Markets Edge Up; Bitcoin, Ether, XRP Face Key Levels

Democrats have won control of both the US Senate and the House of Representatives in the midterm elections, according to the BBC. The result changes Washington’s balance of power for the rest of President Donald Trump’s term. Crypto markets have edged up, but charts suggest the wider cool-off is not over yet.

What Happened In The Midterms

The BBC described the result as a historic defeat for the Republican Party. Democrats won Senate races in traditionally Republican states, including Texas, Ohio and Kansas. Kansas last elected a Democratic senator almost 100 years ago.

With both chambers under their control, Democrats can block or slow the president’s agenda for the next two years. Trump told Fox News that Democrats “did a good job” and that he was “a little surprised.”

For crypto, a divided government raises questions about how quickly new legislation can move. The CLARITY Act has already stalled in Congress, and regulators such as the SEC and CFTC have been filling the gaps through their own rules.

Bitcoin Price Prediction

An analyst who tracks Bitcoin’s multi-timeframe charts says the short-term picture remains weak, even though the long-term trend has not broken.

Long-term view: On the weekly chart, the Supertrend indicator is still green and a bullish divergence remains in place. The last time this signal appeared was at the end of the 2022 bear market, before a multi-year uptrend.

Breakdown: Bitcoin has now closed two three-day candles below the $80,000 to $82,000 support zone, confirming the break lower.

Next support: $75,000 to $76,000, with a short-term target near $76,200 to $76,300, where sell orders and liquidity are clustered.

Resistance: The old $80,000 to $82,000 support is now expected to act as a ceiling.

There is also a risk scenario to watch. If Bitcoin bounces back to the $80,000 to $82,000 zone, gets rejected and then falls back to $75,000 to $76,000, it could complete a head-and-shoulders pattern. That bearish pattern would point toward the $60,000 range. It has not formed yet, but it is worth watching in the coming weeks.

Ethereum Price Prediction

Ethereum is following a similar pattern of weakness, according to the same outlook.

Support: around $2,200, then a stronger floor at $1,900 to $2,000

Resistance: $2,350 to $2,400, where former support has turned into resistance

XRP Price Prediction

XRP is also showing a bearish divergence on the daily chart, which suggests limited upside for now.

Support: $1.22 to $1.23, then about $1.16

Resistance: $1.28 to $1.29, a level XRP was just rejected from

What To Watch Next

For now, crypto is taking its direction from the stock market more than from Washington. Traders will watch whether Bitcoin holds $75,000 and whether the political shift in Congress changes the outlook for stalled crypto legislation.
